Insulin Resistant Diet

Apr 11, 2008

I’ve spent the last two days trying to figure out just what foods are and are not included in the Insulin Resistance/PCOD Diet Recommendations (Pre-Conditioning Phase). I am to wean off all 4 whites (white sugar, white flour, white potatoes, white rice) plus carrots and corn. There goes all the foods I normally eat, which is, I guess, why I have become insulin resistant!

Since leaving the doctor’s office on Wednesday, we have been trying to find what in the world I can eat because virtually every food has something in it that I am not to eat. Dave and I went to the grocery store that night and bought some things but overall we left frustrated. Well, I guess you could say Dave was more frustrated than me. :)

We always say Dave lives to eat and I eat to live. To me, food is an annoyance. I don’t like taking the time to eat or to spend money on food (obviously I do both) and I would be absolutely fine if the human body could operate like a snake who only needs to eat a meal once a month. But I am not a snake and I must eat 3 times a day, I know. :) Dave loves food so this whole “I can’t eat this. I can’t eat that.” frustrates him. I have tried to assure him it does not frustrate me as much as him!

So last night my mom called Julie Hadden (yes, if that name rings a bell, I am talking about Julie who was on Biggest Loser Season 4!). As Julie shared on Biggest Loser, she has polysistic ovaries and her trainer, Jillian, worked with her to get her on a diet to help with this. Julie was a wealth of information for us last night. She spent an hour talking to us about all this. She even said she was going to ask Jillian for any info that might be useful to me! Thanks, Julie!
