Adventures in the Storm
Aug 21, 2008
This is the end result of our adventure out into the storm so Pretinha could potty. (If the picture is to small to see detail...Our hair is windblown, our clothes are wet and Pretinha is drenched to the point that it would appear she just had a bath!)
The poor puppy hadn't been out since about 9am this morning, before all the rain started. It is now 7pm.
So around 6:30pm there was a lull in the wind gusts and torrential downpours of rain. Still raining a bit, Amanda and I headed out, armed with umbrellas and a skeptical little dog.
We walked down the sidewalk towards Amanda's house (10 houses away). The umbrellas blew inside out once and Puppy was getting drenched and was not liking it at all.
We walked all the way to Amanda's house and did Pup potty? No! She was too scared and distracted by the rain. (I can't blame her.)
So we headed back. I was determined she was going to at least pee before we headed back inside. Once we got to our driveway she knew she was home and started to head in the direction of the front door. So I had to literally pull on her leash to get her back on the sidewalk to keep going.
She gets into our neighbor's grass and I could tell she was FINALLY preparing to pee. But then a huge gust of wind blew and that was the end of that. She looked up at us several times like, "Can we please go in? Please!"
But we kept walking and she did finally pee and we made a B-line for indoors.
Now we are cooking dinner (well, let me rephrase that, Dave is cooking dinner) :) hoping we have enough minutes of power left to be able to cook the spaghetti before we lose power. (The news has said the northside can expect power outages.)
Bye for now until this storm passes.
