Adoption Process Update
May 06, 2009
Things are coming along very well. God continues to pave the way before us. We continue to stand in amazement at what He has done! Saturday will mark one month since I turned in our adoption paperwork and learned of this baby girl.
We absolutely LOVE our adoption agency/lawyers. They are simply fabulous. Going into the adoption process, I had no clue about anything! These two lawyers have been incredible to work with. I cannot imagine going through this process without their support. It is amazing to me how God placed Dr. L in our lives, who was an incredible doctor to go through treatments with, and now God has continued to bless us with awesome lawyers as we go through the adoption process.
The birth father has terminated his parental rights. It was never suspected that this would be an issue, however it is a huge blessing to have this part of the process taken care of.
As of today, the birth mom is 34 weeks 3 days pregnant. She will be 37 weeks (full-term) on May 24th. I just have this feeling she will be born that week ... we shall see! :)
The hospital papers were turned into the hospital. The birth mom has requested that I be present during the labor/delivery process which I am just thrilled about.
We are coming along with getting the nursery ready! Last week we got the crib, dresser and changing table set up. We are going to paint the room green (a light baby green that will match the bedding) with one accent wall that will be a very light pink color.
We have our two Home Study visits scheduled. All of the paperwork, background checks, ect... have been completed so now we are just waiting to do the home visits. Our social worker has also been a tremendous blessing to us throughout this process.
It has been interesting to build a relationship with the birth mom. At first, I was really nervous about this, but it's really been no big deal. I think years from now I will be thankful for this brief contact I've had with her so I can be able to tell Little Bug a little about her birth mom when the time is right. God has even opened the door for me to be able to minister to her some which has been really neat.
Please continue to pray for this process as we are getting closer and closer to the birth. Pray for a safe, quick delivery resulting in a healthy baby girl!
Honestly, I don't think all this has really sunk in yet ... even though there is a crib in our house, little girl baby clothes in the closet and plans are being made for baby showers.
I don't think it will really sink in until she is actually in my arms and ours.
