Want to know my new found philosophy about parenting?

Forget what all the books say about this and that and go with my gut instinct.

I’ve been operating on this mindset now for about half a day and so far it seems to be working at making me more relaxed and not constantly second-guessing myself if I am doing the right thing.

I think I am beginning to understand that the right thing is not this parenting method or that parenting method but what works for me and my baby.

And right now my baby is one month old and we are in survival mode and I will do whatever makes her content in her little world.

Routines and all that other stuff can come later down the road when Little Bug is over her withdrawals and Mommy and Daddy are not sleep deprived.

I have read up on the parenting methods out there and I am glad I did simply for the knowledge those books gave me. But I have found trying to “pick” a parenting method and run with it at this point in the ball game is just insanity.

There are things I like about Attachment Parenting and there are things I like about other parenting methods. I think (and really, who knows, things change so constantly with a baby, I have learned) I will most likely find that once Little Bug reaches the age where some sort of routine can be established for her, there will be aspects of all the parenting methods mixed together in the way that we care for her.

But like I said, who knows?!?!

For now, it’s one day at a time and surviving this “survival mode” period.

And, of course, staring at this beautiful little face all day (and sometimes, night) long. :)
