Unshakeable faith

When I look at this little face, there is one thing I desire for my Little Bug.

I desire for this little girl to grow up and have a faith in the Lord that is unshakeable – even in the midst of adversity.

If Little Bug grows up and is a very successful piano player, is very good at math or is the star on the soccer team, but does not have a strong faith in the Lord, NONE of that will matter.

I want her to have a faith in the Lord that does not waver but is her stronghold, her anchor, during hard times.

I want the Light of the Lord to shine in and through her life, even as a little girl.

I know my number one priority as her mother must be teaching her about the ways of the Lord. I will one day have a time carved out in our day to teach her letters, numbers and colors, but if I am not teaching her daily about the Lord, I am failing as a parent.

I think it is easy to lose this focus when young mothers are caring for their small children. In the midst of feedings, diaper changes and bath time it is easy to forget God has given us children to teach them about Him.

While it may not seem “important” to do these mundane daily tasks that are required when caring for an infant or small child, we must remember something more is really happening here.

We are training our children in the Lord. Instilling in them, from birth, the Truths found in God’s Word.

That is certainly not mundane.
