It’s a small world after all

Jul 27, 2009

We left the mountains on Sunday morning to come home.

Around 12:30pm Little Bug was hungry so we pulled off at the nearest exit to find somewhere to stop and feed her.

We stopped at a Wendi’s so we could grab some lunch too.

I walked into the Wendi’s, went to a table, got Little Bug out of her car seat and began feeding her.

Across the restaurant, on the opposite side where I was sitting, I noticed this blonde girl eating lunch with her family.

She looked like one of my students that I had taught in the 4th grade!

But I thought there was no way it could be her considering I was over 300 miles away from home.

It wasn’t long and the girl was staring at me too from across the room. I could see her little mind whirling trying to figure out if I was who she thought I was!

Her family got up to leave and she walked out the Wendi’s door and then down the sidewalk right past my table.

It was then I knew that had to be her!

I jumped up from the chair I was sitting in feeding Little Bug and went to the door her father was just exiting from.

I said, “Is your daughter Victoria?” (Looking back, he probably thought I was crazy!)

He replied, “Yes.”

I smiled really big and said, “I was her 4th grade teacher!”

He recognized me then, I think, and hollered for Victoria to come here.

She came back in the restaurant and gave me a hug.

She was in my very last class I taught three years ago and is now going into 7th grade! She and her family had left that morning on their way to Michigan for a family vacation and had stopped at the very same Wendi’s we had stopped at for lunch!

I hadn’t seen Victoria since the last day of school.

It’s a small world!

Well, like I said, we left the mountains Sunday morning. Little Bug traveled back very well.

Little Bug had her 2 month well baby visit this morning. I will write a post about that soon. You won’t believe how much she is weighing now!

I am trying to get things back in order around here from being out of town!

Little Bug is snoozing now so I better get back to laundry!

Little Bug is 2 months old today! Hard to believe.
