In the beginning

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1)
And what a beautiful world God created!
When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? Psalm 8: 3-4
Is that not just astounding to you?
The God who created the majestic mountains, the rivers and trees, the birds and animals of the earth and the delicate sunflower holds mankind above all that.
Mankind that is sinful.
Of all creation, God made mankind in HIS IMAGE.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27
God has set us apart from all creation for a specific plan and purpose.
You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You made him ruler over the works of your hands. Psalms 8:5-6
When I think of myself in comparison to this vast universe God has created, I am in awe of a God who crowns a sinner like myself with glory and honor.
I am a nature girl. I LOVE seeing the world that God has created. Before marriage and baby, I was called a “gypsy” by some because I was constantly getting on a plane and jetting off to some other land than my own.
There is just something about standing on a mountaintop
and hiking through the woods.
Nature declares the glory and majesty of God everywhere you look!
Natures speaks of the characteristics of the God who created it all:
the mountains speak of God’s majesty
the crashing waves speak of God’s power
the rain speaks of God’s mercy to wash away our sins
the flowers speak of God’s patience
the rainbow speaks of God’s loving faithfulness
the thunder speaks of God’s wrath
the gentle stream speaks of God’s peace
the bright morning sun speaks of God’s joy
I often myself standing in awe of God’s creation when standing on a mountaintop or taking a walk through the woods. And now, I will also think of something else:
God’s creation is magnificent, but He holds something above it all …
YOU and ME!
