Ever changing – advice needed!
Sep 18, 2009
Who knew a baby could be such a complex little creature.
Just when I “figure what works”, something changes and it is back to square one in figuring out what to do next!
Things are constantly changing with Little Bug and I know it is because at this age, she is rapidly growing and developing which means her needs rapidly change as well.
But it is exhausting!
For a good while, Little Bug was sleeping from about 10pm to 7 or 7:30am. Which was very nice!
However, about a week ago, that all changed. Now she is waking around 2-3am for a feeding and then around 6am for a feeding.
Growth spurt, bad habit? I’m not completely sure, which is so frustrating!
I’m thinking it is not a bad habit forming because when she wakes she is obviously hungry because she is taking in a good feeding.
So perhaps we are in the midst of an exhausting growth spurt that will, in time, pass and we can resume the nice little routine we had FINALLY established!
The other thing is that Little Bug’s bedtime had been around 10pm. But I was noticing her becoming really fussy around 8-10pm. So I bumped her bedtime up to 9pm. Which means she is now eating her last bottle of the day at around 8:45pm. I have thought that maybe this is the reason for her middle of the night feedings.
Suggestions, advice and tips welcome!
Napping in the crib continues to go very well. Little Bug goes to sleep with minimal fussing, especially if I time putting her down for a nap just right. She is napping four times a day with the average nap lasting around 1.5 to 2 hours. Her fourth nap is usually the shortest, lasting only about 30-60 minutes.
I still have not moved her into the crib at night. I was just about ready to do that when she started waking twice in the night to eat again. So I suppose I am going to wait and hope this passes and then move her to the crib at night within the next two weeks.
Time is ticking! Angele is 35 weeks pregnant! She had her other two children around week 37 or 38. So the transition from bassinet to crib must be soon for Little Bug!!
