it’s true
Oct 23, 2009
I was just going through the “IVF Verses” Book I made for myself back in March of this year and I came across this verse:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
I was simply amazed at how true this verse is to my journey through infertility.
Trust in the Lord …
When I found myself in circumstances that were beyond my control, I could only trust in the Lord. My world was turned upside down and my faith in Jesus Christ was the only constant during that time.
… with all your heart …
As time passed, I truly learned what it means to trust the Lord with all my heart. It meant surrendering my plans, my dreams, my desires for His perfect will.
… and lean not on your own understanding; …
If I had only looked at things through my eyes I would have only seen the seemingly unfairness of the situation. I would have dwelled on the fact that it just isn’t fair that the couple who isn’t trying gets pregnant or the woman who isn’t married and is going to abuse her child. If I had leaned on my own understanding of my infertility, I would have mistaken the Hand of God at work in my life for unfair circumstances.
… in all your ways acknowledge him, …
From the first day we stepped foot in Dr. L’s office, we would listen to what he had to say and then we would go home and pray, asking the Lord to determine our next step. Our desires pretty much lined up with God’s desires until we reached that failed IVF cycle. In my heart, I wanted to try IVF one more time, but God was saying, “Surrender your desire for pregnancy to me and move to adoption.”
… and he will make your paths straight.
We moved to adoption and on April 9th, 2009, it all became clear and I realized God had something more than my heart’s desire planned for me. All the heartache and disappointment of the past two years was God setting the stage to perform a miracle.
The miracle of Little Bug.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
