Baby Sunshine Update & Go with the flow mentality

Jan 11, 2010

Well, here I am…still in Texas!

Some of the family leaves today so while they are taking those that leave today to the airport, I thought I’d write a post.

First, an UPDATE ON BABY SUNSHINE …

Please pray today for social workers involved in the case. They are meeting today. Please pray the irresponsibility of the birth parents will be very evident to the social workers, as they have some pull in the final decision that will be made concerning where Baby Sunshine will permanently live.

Keep praying for that piece of evidence needed in this case that would allow Baby Sunshine to stay with Laura & Jeremy.

Thank you so much for all the prayers and comments that have been left on this blog. Keep them coming! I am praying for a miracle, as I have asked you to pray as well. Therefore, I am praying believing that God will place Baby Sunshine with Laura & Jeremy, but ultimately knowing His Plan, no matter what that may be, will be perfect. All that to say, once Baby Sunshine is placed with Jeremy & Laura, I’d love to send them all your comments as a way to encourage them AND bring glory to the name of the Lord for the miracle He has performed!

This trip has done a world of good for me in learning to relax even more with Little Bug and just go with the flow because when you are on vacation with an infant, a go with the flow mentality is essential or else you will for sure go insane!

And you know, Little Bug has done absolutely wonderful this entire trip. I’ve learned I can afford to be more relaxed about her eating/sleeping.

I no longer would call myself a “Babywise Mom” and that is very freeing.

Sure, there are bits and pieces of Babywise that fit us well, but what doesn’t fit us (the strict scheduling) is now officially out the window.

I am not going to start being negative towards Babywise because there are factors that I believe are very good. However, putting Little Bug on a schedule where she eats and sleeps at the same time every day, for the same amount of time everyday, just never would really work for us. I’ve learned on this trip that instead of feeling frustrated that she isn’t following the Babywise schedule to a T, I just need to go with the flow and let things happen as they happen.

Little Bug has formed her own little schedule while here! She goes to bed around 8:30pm and wakes between 7 - 7:30am, eats 6 ounces every three hours and takes three naps throughout the day ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours. She wakes happy (which means, according to Babywise, she is getting enough rest) and I cannot tell you how many people have told me over and over again, “She is such a HAPPY baby!”

Someone (it has slipped my mind now who it was) told my aunt, “You can tell that baby has absolutely NO stress in her life. She is so happy!”
