Prayer Updates: Baby Sunshine & Uncle David

Mar 05, 2010

Baby Sunshine

The goal of the state continues to be TPR.

Birth parents have expressed their desire for Baby Sunshine to be adopted by Laura & Jeremy because they know this would be in the best interest for their child.

Prayers need to continue for this case. Pray that the court would move quickly in bringing this case to a conclusion.

Uncle David

Uncle David was moved from the hospital to rehab last week! He undergoes therapy several times a day. He is talking more. Sometimes he makes sense and other times he does not.

He is having a hard time understanding why he is where he is and why he is not at home with his family. When Aunt Mary goes to leave for the night he cannot understand why he has to stay. It is heartbreaking for my aunt to leave him like that.

He has to sleep in a tent-like bed that is zipped up so he cannot get out of bed in the night without first calling for assistance. He thinks he is able to jump out of bed and go and do whatever he pleases. He told someone last week, “If you don’t think I am capable of walking by myself to the bathroom, you need to get your head examined.”

That certainly made us all laugh! I think it also makes everyone feel good because that statement alone shows his brain is reasoning because in his mind he is just fine and ready to resume normal life.

It’s just going to be a long road to a full recovery. He will most likely be in rehab for 3-4 weeks. Once he is able to go home he will require 24 hour supervision.

Please pray that Uncle David will not grow frustrated because he is in rehab when he wants to go home. Pray he can comprehend why he needs to be there for several more weeks.

This aneurysm is Uncle David’s second knock on death’s door. When he was just 8 days old, he choked on some water his mother was giving him. At that same time the pastor’s wife of the church my grandparents went to was walking down their street on the way to make a visit to my grandma and her newborn son. All of a sudden the pastor’s wife got the urge to run to my grandma and grandpa’s house. There she found my grandma and Uncle David, who was turning blue. There was a hospital literally across the street that the pastor’s wife ran Uncle David to. My dad and my other uncle (who are 8 and 6 years older than Uncle David) were playing outside when all this happened. My dad remembers seeing the pastor’s wife rush out the door and saying, “There goes my baby brother.”

Uncle David is a walking miracle and by any medical standpoint he really shouldn’t be here today. But He is because God is the giver and taker of life and He isn’t finished with his plans for Uncle David here on this earth.
