Turning into a Little Girl before my Eyes

Apr 10, 2010

It is really hard to believe Little Bug will be one year old in less than two months.

It really does seem like just yesterday we brought home a little 5 pound bundle of joy and our parenting adventures began.

Little Bug’s 9th and 10th month have been so FUN! Little Bug is so full of life. It’s like she wakes up everyday ready to conquer the world! There are so many things about these months I want to always remember about Little Bug:

Little Bug is a social butterfly (unlike her Mama!). She never meets a stranger. She may give you a serious look at first but it doesn’t take too long and Little Bug is giving you her silly little grin. Little Bug loves to be around other babies/children.

Little Bug follows me around the house all day long and I love it! She doesn’t do it in a whiny sort of way – she just wants to be where her Mama is! If I am emptying the dishwasher, she is right there helping. Her “help” usually consists of pulling a spoon from the dishwasher and eating it!

One morning I decided it was time to clean the fridge out. Little Bug was awake so I decided I better find something to occupy her time while I worked. I pulled out a bag of toys a friend had given me for Little Bug. Little Bug had never seen the toys before so I figured they would keep her busy while I cleaned the fridge. I put them out on the floor for her and went to work on the fridge. It wasn’t long and Little Bug was there crawling at the foot of the fridge where she stayed the entire time I was cleaning it!

I didn’t mind in the least bit. Little Bug just wanted to be there with me doing what I was doing. Little Bug played with the fridge for the half hour it took me to clean it and I got the fridge spic and span. We were both happy and together – the way we like it.

I also love the fact that Little Bug LOVES books. I read to her most every morning after breakfast before her morning nap. Just in the last week she has started going to the book basket, pulling out books and wanting me to read to her. It is a good thing I LOVE reading to her just as much as she loves being read to. She will often look up at me with a huge smile on her face when I read a favorite part of a book to her.

Putting aside the fact that Little Bug is my daughter and I love her to pieces, there is just something extra special about this girl.

Look at those blue eyes and that pensive expression. She’s contemplating the world. Aware of everything around her. Loving life and enjoying every day.

I cannot wait to see the plans God has for her vibrant life.

I am so incredibly blessed that she is my daughter.
