Many Changes

May 11, 2010

While we were visiting my Grandpa Little Bug changed so much, just within that week.

She increased her vocabulary drastically! She can now say:

Da-da

Puppy

Button

Duck

Night-Night

On the last night we were there we went to eat dinner at Uncle David & Aunt Mary’s. (Uncle David cooked chicken on the grill!) Right as we were getting ready to leave, Little Bug took 3 unassisted steps towards me! She hasn’t done it since though, but she is so much more stable walking with someone holding her hands! And when we got back she just took off using this little walker toy. She hasn’t quite learned how to turn it once she runs into something!

Little Bug also FINALLY moved to a FOUR HOUR eating schedule!!! You might remember I tried to move her back in March but she just was not ready and it was very obvious she wasn’t ready. Well, right before the trip and while we were at Grandpa’s she wasn’t eating well every 3-3.5 hours. I could tell we were finally ready to move to the long awaited 4-hour schedule but I really didn’t want to make such a drastic change while on vacation. So I decided to wait until we got home to move her to the 4 hour schedule. Well, I ended up moving her a day or so before we left to come home because she was so ready!

It is interesting to me how Babywise says a baby is typically ready to move to a 4 hour eating schedule around 4-5 months. Little Bug (obviously) was no where near ready because she is just now moving there at almost 12 months old! I love how Babywise gives parents these guidelines but ultimately says to do what you know your baby needs. Some babies are ready at 4 months and others, like Little Bug, are older.

Ok – back to Little Bug.

Little Bug went on many walks with her Grandpa while we were on our trip. They would come back with all kinds of leaves, flowers and pinecones they had found along the way!
