Like Clockwork

Sleep and babies are very interesting.
So I laid Little Bug down for her nap at 10:30am (instead of 10) hoping extending wake time would do the trick to end these horrifying 45 minute naps.
The good news is she did go right to sleep instead of crying and talking for about 15-30 minutes before finally falling asleep.
The bad news is the clock struck 11:15 and Little Bug was awake. I’m serious. On the dot.
SO FRUSTRATING when your baby goes from being a great napper to a 45 minute napper within a day.
I wouldn’t mind so much if she woke up her normal happy, chipper Little Bug self, but she wakes up crabby.
And that is just not cool.
So what to do now??
The only other option I see is I guess Little Bug is in the week 53 wonder week. She did turn 53 weeks old today.
The nice thing about Babywise is that it teaches you that there is always a reason for everything baby does. You just have to have the tools necessary to figure it out, determination to figure things out and lots of patience. Babywise gives you those tools.
I’ve eliminated hunger, teething and wake time as being the culprit of these 45 minute naps so the only other option is the wonder week. (Babywise states that babies don’t drop that morning nap until 14-18 months, so working with that nap to find a solution to this problem will only be a last resort if Little Bug is still doing this weeks from now.)
I am leaving Little Bug in her bed for the duration of the nap so long as she is not screaming her head off. That way she is at least resting.
Now my patience need to kick in as we wait this “wonder week” to pass!
And then hopefully, things will fall back into place and I’ll have my well-rested, happy baby back!
