It’s time

Sep 07, 2010

Ok.

It’s past 11am and Little Bug isn’t sleeping.

I’ve about decided it is just time to make the transition to ONE NAP!

I’ve been waiting to feel that “it’s time” and over the weekend I’ve started feeling that way. It’s just not making a lot of sense to lay her down so she can toss and turn in bed for half an hour or more, fall asleep for maybe 20-30 minutes only to be woken up by me so that she will again sleep at 3:00.

It just feels like it might be time to make the transition!

Plus, we have two upcoming trips. One at the end of this month and one at the end of October. I would really like for her to be totally transitioned into one nap by these trips.

Plus, I have also started to notice a tiny bit of disrupted night time sleep. Some nights it takes Little Bug half an hour to fall asleep, which is also a big sign that they are ready to drop a nap (according to Babywise).

Babywise says to keep mornings busy when you are transitioning to only one nap to help their little bodies make the adjustment.

So, now I need to make my plan of action for only one nap and decide for sure if we are ready.

Based on the little girl who is still talking and playing in bed, I think we’re ready!!

Once we get past the transition period and get into a nice routine of only one nap, I am looking forward to the open mornings to be able to go do more before needing to be home for naptime.

This is also exciting because it is the last major nap transition before dropping the nap altogether (which shouldn’t happen until 3 or 4). It will be nice to have a break for a while from naptime troubleshooting! :)

Little Bug is now hollering out “MAMA! MAMA!”. I think she knows what I am typing and is trying to tell me she agrees!
