Little Bug Speaks

Dec 13, 2010

I have got to start recording the funny things Little Bug does and says.

This kid is hilarious. Dave and I often go to bed at night telling each other the funny things we saw Little Bug do or say that day.

I know if I don’t start writing them down, I will forget.

For lack of anything better, I will call these posts, Little Bug Speaks.

Grandma: Little Bug, are you stinky?

LB: Yes.

Grandma: Do you want Grandma to change your diaper?

LB: No.

We’ve been having some issues with Little Bug throwing her sippy on the floor during meal time. So, yesterday I explained to LB: “Little Bug, when you are all done drinking your water, put your water on the table!” We also went around the entire table as we were sitting there eating and said, “Where is Dada’s water?” Little Bug would say, “Table.” “Where is Grandpa’s water?”…. we went through everyone sitting at the table!

The next evening Little Bug asked for her water (we were not at the table eating), took a sip and then walked over to our kitchen table, reached up on her little tippee-toes and put her sippy on the table.

Then, she turned around and with a big smile on her face announced to her Mama & Dada, “Table!!”

Little Bug was eating dinner one night. She had already had a good serving of everything, but I could tell she wasn’t done eating. (Surprise, Surprise).  So I asked her if she wanted more green beans. She said, “No.” Then I asked if she wanted something else (that I can’t remember) and she said, “Potato.” She wanted more sweet potato! The girl knows exactly what she wants when it comes to food!

My mom, Little Bug and I were at a department store. We had to take the elevator up to the second floor because we had Little Bug in the stroller.

When we were trying to find the elevator to go back down, one of us said, “Oh, there is the elevator.”

We then heard, plain as day, Little Bug say: “Elevator”. We were not even talking to her, but she obviously is always listening to what we are saying!

Little Bug got her professional Christmas pictures done and was rather disturbed that the Christmas Tree for the background prop did not have any lights.

When we walked into the studio that is all Little Bug could talk about!

“No more yites! No more yites!”

Little Bug is back into a “Mama stage” again. All day long while Dada is at work she asks me about him. She will say, “Dada?” And I will say, “Dada is at work.” Then she will say, “Mama?” And I will say, “Mama is right here!”

She asks about Dada all day long but then when Dada gets home and wants a hug from her, she runs to me saying, “Mama, Mama, Mama!” and Dave has to peal her off me to get a semi-hug before he releases her back to her Mama.

(I actually brought this up to the pedi at her 18 month check up! She said it is completely normal…)

So, one day I decided when Little Bug asked me about Dada I would tell her he was at work and she needed to give Dada a BIG hug when he got home.

That evening we met at a restaurant to eat dinner together. When Little Bug and I walked in I told her it was time to give Dada a BIG hug. I could tell Little Bug was doing some major thinking as we walked towards Dada.

We we got to Dave, she went right to her Dada, gave him a BIG genuine hug, but then 5 seconds later was saying, “Mama, Mama, Mama!” and reaching to come back to me.

Little Bug found a reindeer on the Christmas Tree, pointed to it and said, “Rndeer!!” She knew there was another reindeer a little higher up on the tree. She pointed to it and said, “Rndeer!” Then she said, “Two!!”
