Easter: God’s Adoption Plan for his people
Apr 22, 2011
My cousin posted this as her Facebook status today:
Why is Christmas so much bigger than Easter? Jesus asked us to remember his death and resurrection, not his birth... Thank you God for becoming man and then allowing the Holy Spirit to live in us after Jesus rose and left this earth!
That is a great question!
Sin invaded the world and had separated God from his most prized creation: humans.
Because of His love for us, He did send His son to this earth in the form of a baby (Christmas!) but, the story does NOT end there.
That is only the beginning of God’s master plan to redeem His people from their sin.
That baby boy named Jesus lived on this earth, performing miracles and teaching anyone who would listen about His Father in Heaven.
And then came the time for Him to make payment for humanity’s sins.
The payment was death. On a cross.
But again, the story does NOT end there.
Three days later, defying everything known to man, JESUS AROSE FROM THE DEAD!
He defeated death; He defeated sin.
He made it possible for ANYONE who chooses to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to earth to die for our sins, to live FOREVER with Him in Heaven.
Those that do choose to believe in Jesus Christ are adopted into the family of God.
I once was nothing and I had nothing.
But now that I am a CHILD OF THE KING and I have everything!
Not by the world’s standards, by any means.
But I have eternal life and the strength and peace of Jesus Christ as I go about my every day life.
Life is hard.
But there is HOPE. And that hope lies in Jesus Christ and what we celebrate on Easter.
HE IS ALIVE AND I AM A DAUGHTER (through adoption!) OF THE KING!
