Small = BIG (if everyone jumps in)

Jul 08, 2011

I am about to say some things that may step on some of your toes.

I apologize in advance, but I feel strongly that this needs to be said.

Adoption takes money, large sums of money.

Many of my newfound “adoption buddies” are having to fundraise to get the funds necessary to adopt.

I am just astounded at how little help they receive through their fundraising.

Here is an example: Friend told me that between her and her husband, they have about 600 different Facebook friends. This includes basically everyone they have ever known in their lives. Family included.

They have put their fundraisers on their Facebook walls and on her blog. They have sent letters to family and friends, letting them know of their desire to adopt and their need of help with raising the funds necessary to make this adoption become a reality.

And do you know how many responses they have had from over 600 contacts?

Thirteen.

YES, 13.

I was just sitting here thinking if every single one of those 600 people just gave TEN bucks, they would have $6000.

Do you know how much $6000 would help??

A LOT.

And really? How much sacrifice is $10??

Even in this economy I dare say we all have $10 we could spare to donate to somebody’s adoption fund.

Don’t go to Starbucks two times and you have it.

Don’t eat out once and you have it.

God has called us to look out for the orphans and widows.

I don’t believe that this means that we are ALL called to adopt, BUT for the few that ARE called to adopt….HELP THEM!!!!

Especially if you are a part of the Church! You are called to take care of orphans!

If you know someone who is fundraising for an adoption, please give to them!

And do not think that just because you can only give $5 or $10 that you won’t be a help to them! It will bless the socks right off their feet. Just read this.

Yes, adoption takes BIG amounts of money, but small donations add up to BIG amounts if EVERYONE chips in!

Last week, I featured Baby Sunshine’s family and their fundraiser. (It is not too late to buy a T-shirt!)

This week, I am featuring my new friend from the most unusual circumstances, Rebecca!

Luke & Rebecca

Luke and Rebecca have one biological son, Micah.

Adorable is his middle name.

A fight with cancer left Rebecca infertile. They officially received that diagnosis one year ago on July 6th. While the way we became infertile is different, our strong desire for pregnancy that has been replaced with a heart’s desire to adopt is the very same.

Luke and Rebecca are waiting on God to bring them a miracle through adoption.

They need the body of Christ to help them gather the necessary funds for an adoption!

Forgo that Starbucks run and instead drop that money into buying a puzzle piece to help them raise these funds!

This is a picture of their puzzle:

Click on this link and it will direct you to Rebecca’s blog where you will find a PayPal button. Click on the PayPal button and it will guide you in making your donation.

Remember, EVERY AMOUNT is a HUGE blessing.

Yes, even FIVE bucks.

(And PayPal is safe and very easy to use. Don’t let that be your excuse!)

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted from the world. James 1:27
