2 Weeks Old
Aug 17, 2011
Sweet Pea was 2 weeks old yesterday!
She is such a sweet little thing. My heart soars with love for her and I simply HATE to see her in pain.
Little Bug’s withdrawals manifested in being extremely sensitive to stimulation while Sweet Pea’s withdrawals are manifesting in a very sensitive tummy and a furrowed brow.
Sweet Pea appears mad at the world, but the poor little thing is just in pain.
This picture is blurred, but you can see the furrowed brow that Sweet Pea sports all the time:
Sweet Pea is usually pretty fussy after feedings, but once her tummy settles and she has been burped real good, swaddled tight and held upright for a while, she typically falls into a slumber that lasts until her next feed.
She definitely hit her 2 week growth spurt yesterday. In fact, we thought uncontrollable crying (another symptom of methadone withdrawal) had set in two nights ago, but it turns out all Sweet Pea needed was just another ounce of formula! She took 3 ounces that feed and has taken 3 ounces ever since. Today she ate every 2.5 to 3 hours, which tells me again that she is in a growth spurt.
This was Sweet Pea after her crying fit that night that resulted in an extra ounce of formula:
She relaxed and went to sleep snuggled in our bed. She loves to lay in our bed like this on our fluffy comforter. Don’t worry, we only leave her laying like this if we are with her. She slept like this for 2+ hours last night before we put her in her cradle for the night. It does my heart so much good to see her peacefully sleeping.
And yes…that is the MIRACLE BLANKET!! Sweet Pea’s best friend right now.
Please keep praying for Sweet Pea. Withdrawals are not a thing of the past YET for Sweet Pea. The good news is, they will be…one day. Every day is one step closer.
Please pray for her little tummy and pray that God’s healing Hand will touch her entire body and rid it of this awful drug.
