Santa!

We took our girls to see Santa on Friday night!

I wasn’t sure how they would do but they both surprised me and we got this picture:

Little Bug would not smile, but at least she got up on Santa’s lap! Sweet Pea was, of course, all smiles. I was a little concerned that she would bust out in her frantic cry whenever something happens that she does not like (strangers holding her being on that list), but she sat on Santa’s lap and smiled away for the camera!

No, we do not “do Santa” but I did want a picture of both my girls with Santa during their 1st Christmas.

I certainly don’t judge anyone who does “do Santa” with their kids, but we just can’t make ourselves teach our girls something that we know they will down the road learn isn’t the way we told them it was. (I wrote more on why we don’t “do Santa” here.)

Neither one of us grew up “believing in Santa” and I think that also has a lot to do with us not teaching our children to believe. My parents didn’t “do Santa” with us, but Dave’s parents did! However, Dave never fell for it because he was way too smart for his own good and stayed up one Christmas Eve to see if his parents would be putting out his presents. He told me he knew (at the age of 3) there was no way Santa could fit ALL the toys for all the children in the whole wide world in his sled.

I have a feeling if we were teaching Little Bug to believe in Santa, she would be just like her Daddy and question everything to the tenth degree!
