new plan of action

Apr 10, 2012

Pedi called me. We have a new plan of action. I feel good about it.

She suggested a blood test to detect a food allergy to corn. Powder formula has corn whereas ready-made formula does not have corn. So if there is an allergy, it is most likely to corn.

She did say that if the blood test is positive for this allergy we can be confident that Sweet Pea has a food allergy to corn.

But if the test is negative, it could be a false negative because sometimes food allergies in young infants do not show up in a blood test.

She still said it would be worth doing the test. So we are. Tomorrow.

PLEASE pray they can get her blood on the first stick! Last August, we had a horrid experience with trying to get blood drawn and I hope we do not have a repeat of that this time.

The pedi also told me to take Sweet Pea completely off the powder formula. So, as of her 7:30pm bedtime bottle tonight, she is now once again 100% on the ready-made formula. If the diarrhea goes away suddenly (as in a couple days), that could be another indication of food allergy.

The diarrhea picked up today compared to yesterday, which I find kind of odd. Yesterday she only had about four or five bad diapers. Today it was 8, maybe 9. I lost track.

I am beat mentally today! I am tired of thinking about this, researching on my own and trying to get a hold of doctors! And I am tired of changing diarrhea diapers! But I am even more tired of seeing Sweet Pea like this.

Poor little thing. I hate seeing her like this and not being able to fix things for her right away.

But I think we are on the right track now.
