blood work completed

Apr 11, 2012

We are back from blood work and that went off without a hitch. They were able to draw her blood in one stick.

Now we wait for test results to come back sometime next week.

Until then, Sweet Pea will be on 100% ready-made formula and when these results come back, we will go from there.

If she tests positive for corn allergy it’s a no-brainer – we will keep her on ready-made formula until she is weaned at 12 months.

But if she tests negative for corn allergy we will have another decision to make (because a negative could be a false negative in a baby this age) – reintroduce powder formula a few weeks from now and see if there is another reaction or continue with the ready-made and not take a chance of going through another reaction again.

I’m pretty sure we will choose the safe route and just keep her on ready-made formula.

Today, there has only been one really bad diaper and another that was just a small amount. Which is interesting because that could mean now that she is on the ready-made, her system is clearing up. Her pedi did say another good indicator of allergy would be for the diarrhea to go away 1-2 days after putting her back on only ready-made formula. Or, if she has a virus, this would be day 6 and maybe she is just at the end of the virus.

We just don’t know.

Her rash is also FINALLY showing some improvement today.

I am relieved to have this blood work completed since it does have the potential to give us a definite answer as to whether we are dealing with an allergy or virus.

And now, we are trying to resume back to normal life after a week of crazy!!
