The nurse called with the results of Sweet Pea’s blood work last week to check for corn allergy.
Negative.
Of course.
I obviously don’t wish for my child to have a food allergy, but at the same time, negative could be a false negative.
Or it could be a for real negative.
My gut says it’s a real negative and Sweet Pea had a virus.
But, it’s not the absolute answer that I was hoping to find by doing blood work.
So, in a way, we are back at square one.
Do we try powder again, or not?
I am thinking not, even though I feel pretty certain this was all due to a virus.
But on the off chance that the blood test was a false negative, I do not want to put Sweet Pea through this again by giving powder another try.
Another reason why I feel it is viral (or something other than food allergy)?
Tomorrow marks 2 weeks since her first diarrhea diaper and she is still having runny diapers.
I was elated when she had a normal diaper yesterday. I thought we were finally past the diarrhea. But then, she had more runny diapers today.
I spoke to the nurse about it when she called with the results today.
She asked me if Sweet Pea was acting normal. I told her she was because, other than the 2-4 runny diapers a day, Sweet Pea is her normal sweet, happy self, she is eating well, sleeping well and overall seems “well”. She asked if it seemed like her stomach was sore and I said no.
So, the plan now is to give it the weekend and if she is still having runny diapers on Monday, I am to bring her in for stool samples to check for parasites and other lovely things I would rather not think about right now.
PLEASE pray this clears up in the next 24-48 hours.
