Big Changes with my Big Girls

Big Girl Bed
Little Bug loves her new bed! She is doing very well staying in her bed until we come to get her in the morning and after naptime. She has had about three times where she got out of bed before we came in. I know having these rules in place is keeping her from leaving her bedroom when she wakes which is what I really wanted to avoid in the first place.
She took that picture above, by the way. I went into her room after room time and there was my camera. She just looked at me and said, “I was taking some pictures. I took a picture of my toys and my bed…” She was waiting to see if she was going to get in trouble. I just laughed. Sometimes you just gotta laugh with this girl. She is a mess.
Bottles
This big girl is completely off bottles!!!
August 6th I decided to see if she would take the Born Free sippy. She took right to it and downed the entire thing. I packed the bottles up the next day and Sweet Pea has been bottle-free ever since!
Milk
Dave has always been the one to make Sweet Pea’s bottles every night. He knew I was nervous about the wean to whole milk but on August 5th Dave told me it’s time and he put an ounce of milk in with Sweet Pea’s formula. She drank an ounce of whole organic milk with the formula for several days and then he made her sippies 50% milk and 50% formula. August 14th was the first day she had no formula. At first she wasn’t into the milk at all. She would take a sip and be done. I finally figured she didn’t like the coldness of milk! After being on refrigerated ready-made formula for a year that we always warmed up for her, she didn’t like the cold milk. So, she now gets her milk warmed. Hopefully one day she will like cold milk!
Self-Feeding
Every day I was putting small bites of food on Sweet Pea’s tray hoping she would learn to put the food in her mouth. It is funny because everything else would go into her mouth – except food!
On August 6th she picked up the bites of waffle I had put on her tray and started putting them in her mouth!
Lots of big changes for my Big Girls these past couple of weeks.
