X Week!
Sep 13, 2012
We took “x-rays” of Little Bug’s feet on our Xx paper.
We made an x-ray out of Little Bug’s handprint. We talked about what x-rays are and how they allow a doctor to see our bones.
Little Bug wrote the letter Xx. She is into writing the letters again.
Little Bug colored the xylophone by number.
Little Bug played with a real xylophone as her sister watched!
After learning about x-rays one day, the next day we learned about the human body skeleton! We talked about the different bones and what their names are. I think her favorite was “phalanges”.
We talked about how certain bones protect certain organs in our body. (crainium-brain, ribs-lungs). I told her the femur bone in our leg is the largest bone in the body. She was very interested in all of this and we spent more time on this than I thought she would pay attention for!
I loved this too because when I taught 4th grade teaching the human body in the science curriculum was my absolute favorite!
Little Bug is loving the Do-A-Dot worksheets! She said, “Mommy I am doing it sloooooow.”
Little Bug did this xylephone pattern activity. Her pattern skills have greatly improved recently! She loves doing these. After she completed this one she wanted to turn all the cards on the paper upside-down.
Since I’ve been shortening Sweet Pea’s morning nap to preserve her afternoon nap, she is now awake for about half of learning time. While we were in the kitchen, Sweet Pea wandered off to the laundry room and had her own little learning time with the Alphabet Fishing game!
Little Bug made a xylophone using paper. First she put the pieces in order from biggest to smallest.
Then she glued the pieces onto the paper to make the xylophone.
We read the book A Box Can Be Many Things. This is a great book for showing how kids are using their imaginations to make a box be many things!
Then, Little Bug and Sweet Pea played with a box! (No pictures because Little Bug wasn’t dressed in these pics.)
