Apples

We made an Alphabet Apple Tree!
Using the “Princess Castle” box, we painted an apple tree on one side.
I bought these apple-shaped sticky notes for a couple dollars off Amazon, wrote each letter of the alphabet on them and then Little Bug put them all on the apple tree after identifying each one! (FYI: Those apple sticky notes are now $8?? I know I did not pay $8. I paid around $2. You might want to shop around or make your own!)
Our Alphabet Apple Tree
We made this adorable little book called Where is the Apple?
I read each page to Little Bug and then she glued the apple where it was suppose to be on the page. This activity taught directional words such as: next to, under, beside and down.
We read the book Johnny Appleseed by Jodie Shepherd. This was the first time Little Bug had been introduced to this story. This particular book is an excellent one to use with young children! It’s $3.99 on Amazon. I got it at the consignment sale for $1 but I would pay the full price for this book. Little Bug really enjoyed this story.
We played an Apple Tree Game. She rolled the die and that determined how many apples she would put on or take off the tree. This was a fun way to do simple addition/subtraction.
We bobbed for apples, although there wasn’t much bobbing going on!
The girls (especially Sweet Pea) really enjoyed playing with this tub of water and foam apples that I cut out. She eventually ended up in the bucket!
We sang a cute song about apples. I made this simple apple tree with construction paper, red foam paper (apples) and magnets.
Here is the song:
(Five) red apples hanging in a tree. The juiciest apples that you ever did see. The wind came by and gave an angry frown. And one little apple came tumbling down.
One day I filled the sink up with water and threw in the foam apples, cups and measuring cups and Little Bug was a happy camper pouring and playing in the water.
We made Apple Garland of the Fruits of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22-23. As we worked on this project we talked about the fruits of the spirit and that Jesus gives us love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control.
Lately when Little Bug isn’t being nice to her sister I remind her to “show love to Sweet Pea”. That usually helps her remember to be sweet to her little sister.
There is a cute kid song called The Fruit of the Spirit is not a Coconut. Little Bug loves this song! Click here to hear the song.
Our Fruit of the Spirit Apple Garland.
This was the 10 Little Fingerprints Apples, but Little Bug turned it into something different. She put way more than 10 fingerprints on the tree and then she asked me, “How do you write ‘I like apples.’” so this activity turned into our very first sentence structure lesson! We sounded out each word and then I showed her how the sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a period.
