Saturday morning we went to pick out our Christmas Tree!

This was a first for Sweet Pea because last year she slept in her car seat the entire time we were picking out our tree.

Look at Little Bug in this picture. I guess she was smelling the trees?

I just love making these memories with my sweet little family!

And I love when babies are in the point-at-everything stage! So cute.

We found our tree within three minutes of being there! The guy showed us this one, it was perfect, and we said “we’ll take it”!

We came home and Dave left for a youth activity at church. I got the girls lunch and down for naps and then after naps we decorated our Christmas Tree!

And, let me tell you…that was an experience! The girls were into everything! I had to come up with a plan so that it wouldn’t be total and complete chaos!

I did most of the other decorations around the house the night before we got the tree and then that left only the tree to do with my little helpers. I would open the box that had ornaments and take out a few small boxes at a time or else ornaments would have been everywhere!

My parents and brother came over to watch a football game that was on and my mom was a huge help in crowd control and snapping pictures for me!

Sweet Pea was interested in what was going on. It is so interesting to me how quickly they learn, even at just over a year old, how to decorate the tree.

She got a ball, walked over to the other side of the tree and started trying to hang it on the tree!

It was busy I shall say, but later as I thought that I could have just decorated the tree myself after they had gone to bed, I knew that was NOT what I really wanted. I wanted that chaos of decorating our Christmas Tree with a 3 and 1 year old!

I enjoyed telling them about special ornaments.

Sweet Pea discovered there was a big bowl of water under the tree and…

…she thought it was for playing!

Sweet Pea will sit and concentrate on something for quite a while. She found an ornament and the top had come off. She was sitting there (supervised! I know that is not an appropriate ornament for a baby to hold!) trying to get the top back on the ball.

Bear Family under our tree. We have the 2007 bears (the year we got married), 2009 bear (blue – Little Bug’s birth year) and 2011 (Sweet Pea’s birth year).

Our Christmas Tree

As I am starting traditions with my girls, it has made me think back and remember childhood memories with my family growing up. It is still surreal to me that I am the adult now – and my children are the kids who are growing up making memories they will treasure for a lifetime.
