Book Review: Fundamentally Flawed
Dec 21, 2012
When I was contacted by the author of the book Fundamentally Flawed and asked if I would like a copy of it to read and review for my blog, I didn’t hesitate to accept the offer!
The author, Joselyn Hasty, has a heart for providing those going through infertility hope and peace that can only be offered through the truths and promises of God’s word.
Joselyn is very tactfully bold in her writing, which I immediately loved about her.
Those walking the road of infertility face many tough issues such as anger, bitterness, worthlessness and longing.
In her book, a devotional, she covers many of the issues women face while going through infertility.
Joselyn realized through her own battle with infertility that going through something like this leaves women feeling alone and isolated. She wrote this devotional book with the hope that it would bring women walking this road together so they can dive into these issues and see what God’s Word has to say about them all.
Throughout her book Joselyn shares her own infertility story and how she personally worked through her own emotions.
What resonated most with me as I read this book was in the very beginning when she wrote about five key factors that are foundational to understanding all the emotions that arise from going through something like infertility.
Joselyn writes, Infertility is not your identity (page 23). That totally hit home for me because in my own walk through infertility, realizing that was critical for me to be able to see beyond my heartache to the big picture of what was really going on - God working in and through my heartache to do something only He could do.
If you are walking the road of infertility and feel hopeless and feel that infertility has defined you, right now, I encourage you to get a copy of this book. While it was written as a devotional book with twelve lessons and meant to be a Bible study that women can go through together, you can certainly read this book on your own and gain much from it.
Joselyn would love to see her book taken into churches and to groups of women battling infertility, so that they can, together, work through some of these issues, and together see the big picture of infertility.
As much as I’d love to have a copy of Fundamentally Flawed, I want to give it to someone who can greatly benefit from it.
Be looking for a Giveaway on the blog at the beginning of the New Year!
