Christmas Cookies

Dec 28, 2012

I’m not so sure pictures adequately describe the chaos that ensues when Little Bug is cooking in the kitchen! If you aren’t careful, she will add ingredients that shouldn’t be in the recipe and take licks from the bowl or batter at any given moment. My mom really needs about eight arms when cooking with Little Bug.

They have so much fun together cooking in the kitchen. On this day, it was Christmas cookies. Sugar cookies. They got their batter rolled out and cut out all kinds of different cookies.

When I was writing this post, I couldn’t help but put this picture on the facebook page. It depicts my Little Bug to a T. Here she is making Christmas cookies and making red icing. She gets a HUGE glob of icing on her spoon that she is mixing with and then, all of a sudden, there it goes up to her open mouth and tongue sticking out. She just can’t help herself sometimes, even though we had said no licking this spoon! Girl keeps me on my toes, daily, but I know God is going to use her zest for life and determination to do mighty things one day.

She wanted to ice and decorate the “old rugged cross” cookie first. She has been obsessed with “Jesus dying on the cross for our sins” for a while now, so it has been really neat to be able to go back in the story and tell her about Jesus’ birth in the stable in Bethlehem because he was born so that He could eventually die and pay the price for our sins. She is getting that as much as a 3 year old can this year, and that is just really cool.

And not to be left out on all the fun, Sweet Pea wanted to decorate a cookie, too. I love her face in this picture. Pure delight and joy at something so innocent.

Well, we later learned what this baby really wanted was just the empty sprinkles container and the top. She loves putting tops on things!

Bisa came over to making cookies too. How special to have four generations making memories together!
