Gingerbread
Dec 30, 2012
We started Gingerbread week by making a little book about a Gingerbread Baby. Little Bug was suppose to tear the part of the gingerbread that had been eaten, but I let her practice her scissor skills.
She glued the gingerbread babies to the book.
We made a Gingerbread House!
For the record, I decorated the front of this gingerbread house (while waiting for Uncle and Little Bug to be ready to decorate) and I enjoyed every minute of it!
Grams and Little Bug attempted to make Gingerbread Cookies, but it was a flop! My mom thinks her molasses was too old because the batter was too crumbly to make the cookies. They still had fun cooking together in the kitchen, as usual. Anybody have a Gingerbread Cookie recipe that was a success you want to share?
Little Bug practiced writing her G’s for Gingerbread.
Little Bug found the items that start with the “F” sound and put them in the boxes.
Frog, fan, fire truck, fire and fish all start with F!
I knew Little Bug would love this Gingerbread Number game and she did! We got out her Dot Markers and I told her “Put a blue dot on all the 1’s.” We did numbers 1-6. Great way to practice numbers with her without her realizing it!
We played a “How Many Buttons?” gingerbread game. I put a number in the box and Little Bug had to put that number of buttons on the gingerbread!
This was another favorite. I would lay 4 number cards on the table and have her tell me the numbers as I put them out. Then, she would close her eyes and I would hid the Gingerbread Man under one of the number cards. She had to say the number before she could pick it up to see if that was where the Gingerbread Man was hiding. Another excellent number practice game!
And that wrapped up all of our Christmas activities!
