Because no draft is ready…
Jan 07, 2013
I went to post to the blog this morning and had no drafts ready to go.
So I decided to write a bullet post today on what’s happening in our little neck of the woods.
- Sweet Pea had her 15-month check up today! She weighed in at 21 pounds 4 ounces (15-20%) and is 29.75 inches tall (15%). Her head circumference is 45.5 inches (25%). She cried when the nurse listened to her heart, checked her ears, looked in her throat and weighed and measured her. After it was all done she gave “a look” to the nurse as if to say she did not appreciate what had been done to her today. This was all before she got her shot! The shot was pure trauma to the poor baby.
- We are now waiting on a referral so Sweet Pea can go to food therapy. Her feeding issues are most likely “texture issues” so off we go to therapy. I hope her fix is as easy as Little Bug’s was.
- Little Bug’s allergy testing results came back on Christmas Eve. She is allergic to: wheat, gluten, tomatoes and banana. We are to totally eliminate all of those out of her diet! I was a little overwhelmed with that news on Christmas Eve and decided to not think about it until after the holidays! But it really isn’t as bad as I feared. Little Bug just eats a lot of protein, veggies, fruit, beans and rice, which are all foods she loves very much. The hardest thing, really, has been giving her dairy products in moderation. She is also slightly allergic to cow’s milk so we have to limit her intake of that but not totally take it out of her diet. We have tried to get her to like almond, soy or coconut milk but she does not like it at all.
- My brother will be heading back to seminary at the end of this week for his final semester! We are all hoping to make it to his graduation. It’s a 16-hour drive though. I guess my road trip to visit Rebecca in November has made me brave to travel again. Although, some air travel will most likely be involved with this trip!
- My sister-in-law was asked to share her testimony about her New Year’s Resolution with our church yesterday after our pastor saw what she had written about it on Facebook! (Be careful what you say on Facebook!!) She did a fabulous job speaking in front of the whole church. My SIL is like me – quiet and shy – but you wouldn’t have known it hearing her speak yesterday. She clearly spoke about how God has been speaking to her lately about “surrendering all”. I was very proud of her!
- Last year I participated in a year long Women’s Chronological Bible Study. It was an incredible Bible study. This year I am participating in the study again and taking on more of a leadership role with my good friend (who is the official leader of our group). I am very excited about the ministry opportunities and I’m looking forward to going through the study again this year.
- I am still trying to write the post on “knowing God’s will”. Hard post to write. Knowing God’s will for your life is such a personal thing. God speaks to us in different ways and it is hard to put all this into words.
- It’s been three weeks since I’ve been to the Crisis Pregnancy Center and I miss it SO MUCH. With holiday closings, I’ve missed two weeks in a row and I am very much looking forward to my upcoming shift this week!!
- I found a post in my drafts where I “vented” about the difficult aspects of parenting both of my children at this time. I plan to post that soon. I titled it “this too shall pass” and that is funny because those issues have passed (mostly) with both of them. Or maybe I’ve just gotten used to life being like that for now. Never a dull moment with a 3 and 1 year old.
- A reader sent me a message on the Facebook page requesting I write a post about what a typical day looks like for the girls and me. I will get around to posting that soon.
- But FIRST I must get busy on finding our January learning time activities!!! I still have not done that. Good thing I am my own boss when it comes to this or else I would be fired by now.
