Stopping point

Apr 10, 2013

I’ve come to a stopping point in things I can do around the house, so I am just sitting here listening to the nails going in to the floors and waiting for the Magic Cleaning solution to hopefully do it’s magic on the bathrooms! We will see…

I think my tired is finally catching up with me. We have been working HARD to get this house ready to move in to!

But since we closed Thursday, we have:

  • painted the entire house (minus the top part of the homeschool closet which still needs to be painted)
  • cleaned all the windows (except the garage)
  • repaired some holes in the walls
  • polished kitchen cabinets and cleaned cabinets and countertops (THANK YOU AMANDA!)
  • polished and cleaned the bathroom cabinets and countertops

While hardwood floors are being installed and before we start moving things in, I want to:

  • clean the tubs/shower/floors with this solution
  • polish all the wood work in the house (door frames, doors)
  • wash garage window

Once those things are done, we can start moving small items and the boxes we’ve packed. Our big Moving Day isn’t until later this month.

I was asked what Amanda used to polish the cabinets. It’s called Scott’s Liquid Gold. This stuff restores life into wood! It’s amazing!

Moving is a big job!! Especially when you have work to do in the new house before you move in! But it is all getting done. I cannot imagine doing this without my parents’ help. They are incredible. If not for them we would have had to move in and do the work on the house as we could, with two little ones running around! I am SO grateful for their help with the girls these past five days so we could just get all this work out of the way before we move in.

And the help from our friends and family on the house has been a tremendous blessing too. John and Katie’s help on Friday was just what we needed to make progress on the huge painting job and not get discouraged. Because Friday before they came, I was discouraged wondering how in the world we were going to get this entire house painted in one weekend!! But with the help of John and Katie, my dad and Amanda WE DID IT!

When I left the house yesterday they had gotten a good portion of the master floors done! Today they are working on the family room. It’s coming together! We will be in here before we know it!

Pray for Sweet Pea. Poor thing can’t catch a break. She was napping at my mom’s house while I am over here working during naptime and Sweet Pea woke early from her nap crying which is extremely rare for her. Grams and Gramps ran in to investigate and found she has a 102 fever. She’s had a runny nose all week but I figured it was from teething because she is getting her incisors. I guess she now has a virus on top of a broken arm. BUT- according to Grams she is “happy as a lark playing with toys”.

Her orthopedic appointment is tomorrow.
