One week in

Fun times continue to roll over here eight days post-closing! Both girls have had fevers over the past couple of days. Sweet Pea’s has been 101-102* and Little Bug’s was just a low-grade fever with a terrible cough. I’ve just assumed LB’s was due to all the pollen in the air because she is usually coughing and congested this time of year. I decided to call the pedi and get them seen with the weekend right around the corner.
Do you think they could see us? No! That would be too easy. Well, actually they could take us at 2pm but considering SP’s orthopedic appointment was at 2:45pm, that would not work. So, we didn’t go to the pedi and thankfully no one seems to be getting any worse today.
We got EXCELLENT news at the orthopedic doctor yesterday! The break is so minor and a very consistent injury with a fall off a Fisher Price slide. The doctor said there was no need to even cast her arm! Three weeks from the injury and it will be healed. To remind her that her arm is injured he recommended that we keep just the sling on her arm. This means the mummy wrap that went around her torso to immobilize the arm is NOT necessary! And, when she sleeps she can just take it ALL off! We were so relieved to hear that this is a very minor injury that will basically heal with no intervention. We were told to not let her fall on the arm while it is healing which is going to be interesting considering she is 1.5 years old and clumsy.
I am shocked at the level of calmness I feel even though basically nothing on my packing/moving schedule is happening the way I planned it! But, such is life. It is important to make plans, but at the same time, it is more important to be flexible and to roll with the punches of life. I know all this will get done one way or the other.
In other excellent news, we got renters for our house yesterday!!! The property manager said the house will probably get renters within 30-45 days of being on market and it took 27 days. It is nice to know we’ve got renters moving in May 1.
And now, we just really, really need my car to be fixed and out of the shop. But it’s looking like that is not going to happen anytime soon. We took it to our mechanic and without even knowing it had been in an accident in January, he called me and immediately asked, “So when was the car in an accident?”. The car is leaking fluid (or something, I am clearly not a mechanic). We had it towed back to Toyota because of insurance but Toyota is claiming that the leak is not due to the accident so Dave is having to haggle with them about this!! Why couldn’t the car have shown this probably oh about two weeks ago when we were sitting around twiddling our thumbs waiting for our closing date?! Oh yes, because that would be boring.
Even with all these extra adventures added to the adventure of moving, I am very thankful to be in this place right now. We’ve wanted to move for a couple years now and it is finally happening and we are moving to a house that far exceeds what we thought we’d find in our search.
I think this picture is funny! It’s like the girls are looking at each other and saying, “DON’T look at the camera!”
I KNOW giving this all to Him at the start of this month is making all the difference in the world. That and all the prayers we’ve received. Thank you to those of you who have told me you are praying for my family during this process. It truly is making a difference.
I’ve had moments of panic (like a couple nights ago when everyone told me my plan was crazy and I just needed to not do what I wanted to do and SLEEP instead – they were right and I eventually came to my senses) but overall, it’s all good around here. The rest of the house will get packed before moving day. The new house will be ALL clean at some point even if it isn’t before we move in. It won’t kill us to move in without me cleaning all the blinds. HAHAHAHA!!! But seriously folks, these blinds NEED a good cleaning and I’d like to do it before we move in and start breathing the nastiness in. I was able to use my parents’ car and go to the house today during naptime to work some more on cleaning the bathrooms and cloroxing the tile floors.
But it’s all good. We are making progress daily and every day is one day closer to being completely moved in! Tonight Dave’s parents are coming with their 4-runner and we will start taking small loads of boxes over to the house! Last night we had one of our final Late-Night Packing parties. We are basically nearly all packed up and ready to go (except the girls’ rooms- have not done one thing in those rooms!).
We got A LOT packed last night and I feel so much better now about the packing progress we are making.
Another thing I was concerned about was how the girls would do during this, but they are taking it all in stride and not missing a beat. The only thing I sensed was they were both missing their Mama during our marathon painting weekend, but I spent some good time with them and they fell back to their groove.
Little Bug can’t wait to move to the “new house”. Every time I ask her if she wants to go live there she responds with an enthusiastic “YES!”. I know Sweet Pea will just go wherever we go and be her happy little self.
