Weekend
Apr 15, 2013
This past weekend was spent with us all back at our old home for one last time. Tuesday we will be moving in with my parents while both of our homes are in transition. Even though my car is still in the shop (that is a whole other story!!) and my parents said they didn’t mind at all if we stayed with them longer, I wanted to come home one last time.
I know when I see Little Bug walk out of this house for the last time tomorrow morning as she heads to preschool, I’m going to be sad. This is the house we brought her home to. This is the house we went through everything we went through to become parents. This is the house where the first six years of our married life were spent. Lots of memories are here and a part of me is sad to be leaving.
But I know I won’t stay sad for long because we are ALL anxious to get in the new house and get settled there!
Because I didn’t have a car and I wanted to keep Sweet Pea out of the nursery one more week with her broken arm to allow it more time to heal, I stayed home from church with both girls. We had a fun morning together. We had breakfast and read books afterwards like we normally do and then during room time, we put Sweet Pea in her room and then Little Bug and I worked on packing up her room!!
Here she is putting all her stuffed animals in a box:
We got the entire room (minus the stuff on her walls) packed in under an hour! After dinner we started packing Sweet Pea’s room and the wall décor in both rooms. By the end of yesterday I had gotten both girls’ rooms completely packed!!
Sunday after church Dave did go to the new house to work on a few things, but my goal this weekend was to work on getting things done at the old house. I had a pretty productive weekend there and accomplished a lot:
- packed the girls’ rooms
- laundry!!! (It was another Mt. Everest week, but fortunately it was only Dave’s and my clothes because my mom has been doing the girls’ laundry since they were staying over there!)
- cleaned the kitchen/bathroom cabinets & drawers
After the girls were in bed last night, Dave and I had one last Late Night Packing Party and this morning I can finally say our house is completely packed and ready to go besides some last minute items and the girls’ bathroom, which I will pack tonight after bath time. We are actually ahead of schedule now and decided last night to move our Moving Day to the end of this week instead of Monday of next week! WOO-HOO!!!!
This week we will work on taking small loads of things to the new house. The hardwood floors should be finished today and carpet will be installed in the three bedrooms tomorrow. It’s coming together nicely and doesn’t look like the same house we closed on 11 days ago! Amazing what a fresh coat of paint and new flooring does to transform a house.
