Unpacking Fury

Apr 23, 2013

My parents graciously offered to let the girls stay with them while we get this house unpacked. Huge blessing. HUGE. Having to unpack and organize in spurts of time when children are having room time or are sleeping, would be a headache and stressful. But with them at Grams & Gramps’s house we have been working HARD getting this place set up and organized.

Over the weekend we:

  • unpacked ALL boxes in the living room, kitchen and playroom
  • organized everything into place in the living room kitchen
  • hung up all the pictures/décor in the living room and kitchen
  • replaced the light fixtures in the entrances foyer and kitchen
  • put together an organizer for the playroom for toy storage
  • hung up shelves in two of the bedroom closets
  • unpacked all the boxes in both girls’ rooms

Moving in iApril I knew the chances of us being able to build our first fire in the fireplace before months from now was slim to none. However, our first morning waking in the new house, I stepped outside and it was COLD!! As in in the 50s cold!! So, our first morning in our new house, we built a fire!

This was just another of the small, insignificant ways that God makes Himself known to me. In mid-April it is usually 80-90* on any given day. 50-60* at mid-day is extremely rare! But He gave us a cold day so we could have our fire upon moving in!

Setting up the kitchen was a BIG job! Especially on a cold, rainy day with a fire in the fireplace! I wanted to just curl up with a book and read! But I did not. I did this instead:

Monday morning we worked on hanging pictures/décor in the girls’ bedrooms and I unpacked all the boxes in their bathroom.

That night Grace came over and helped us get our master bedroom and closet unpacked and organized! She was a BIG help and we had that big job done in no time! We couldn’t find the curtains for our room and then suddenly they appeared in the form of a ghost.

Today we plan on working on the garage and laundry room! That is another big job! Once that is finished we will be on the downswing of getting settled in here and I will post a few pictures.
