A Chef is Moving In

Jun 24, 2013

If cooking were organization, I’d be a gourmet chef.

Bottom line: I hate cooking and I hate food!

I wish we could eat like snakes. Seriously. Think about it. They eat one meal every few weeks or so. I would LOVE to eat like that.

It would take away the stress of so many things in life:

What do I cook tonight? Instead it would be: What do I cook this month? I could so handle cooking ONE gourmet meal per month. I would have three weeks to prepare what I was going to cook!

Grocery shopping? Can you imagine how much the grocery bill would be cut if we only ate one meal a month?

Time. We spend so much time eating. I could do so much MORE with my children if I didn’t have to stop three times a day to feed them!

Stress. It would personally eliminate a lot of my stress in this phase of life for me. Right now, at ages 4 and almost 2, it is pretty much smooth sailing with my girls. Except for meal times! Between Little Bug’s restrictions from glutens and dairy and Sweet Pea’s picky ways, I could rip my hair out after just about every meal! Life is pleasant, for the most part with them, at any other time of the day beside MEALTIMES.

Obviously, God didn’t design humans to eat like this so I am left trying to overcome my cooking disabilities by learning to make good food for my family.

We also have a gourmet chef moving in with us soon, which can only be providential to my cooking saga.

The gourmet chef is my brother, Wesley! He isn’t really a chef but the boy can cook and I am really looking forward to having him in the house to teach me some things.

He graduated Seminary in May, went on a road trip across the USA (from PA to CA!) in June and he will be home for good come July!

Here he is at his friend’s uncle’s ranch in New Mexico:roadtrip

While he is in transition of moving back home, finding a job and a place to live, he is going to live with us for several months. We aren’t charging him rent because, instead, he is going to teach his big sis how to cook and have dinner on the table for us by 6pm!! Good trade off, I think. Then, when he moves out, I can take over.

That is the plan, anyway. Will I be able to cook by fall?!?

Oh, I hope so.
