Tips and Tricks {BFBN} Fall
Sep 26, 2013
This month on the Babywise Friendly Blogging Network Tips and Tricks Day, I am sharing with you several Fall Themed Crafts and Learning Activities that I have done with my children in the past and then several others that I am planning to do with them this Fall!
1. Fingerprint Fall Tree
I think this is a classic fall craft! If you like to frame some of your child’s artwork, this craft is certainly a beautiful keepsake!
All the supplies you need for this fun craft is: paper, brown marker and paint (yellow, red, purple, orange). Little Bug dipped her finger in the paint and made “leaves” on her tree!
2. Tangled Pumpkin from I Can Teach My Child.
Supplies for this pumpkin craft are: orange yarn, glue and wax paper. First, I drew a pumpkin template onto the wax paper with a black marker. Then we mixed Elmer’s glue and water (to just water down the glue a bit). Then, you pour that mixture onto the wax paper. After that, Little Bug got the orange yarn and coated it with the glue and water mixture until it was a tangled mess! Once the glue mixture is all on the yarn, we shaped it into the shape of a pumpkin and left it to dry. Once it dries and hardens you can hang it on the window!
3. Apple Garland (The Fruits of the Spirit) from I Can Teach My Child. (I guess I really like I Can Teach My Child. I do.)
This was so fun to make a wonderful way to incorporate The Fruits of the Spirit into Learning Time. I pulled out the Apple Garland we made last year and have it hanging on the kitchen window.
We are really emphasizing to Little Bug these days having the Fruits of the Spirit in her heart instead of being mean and having a bad attitude. She loves our Apple Garland and truthfully it is a good visual reminder to us all to show love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control to each other.
All you need to make this is: apple template (I just free-handed one), scraps of red paper, wax paper, black sharpie pen, hole punch and ribbon (or yarn).
And now for a few new crafts and learning activities we will plan to do this year!
I love to do handprint crafts with my girls. I enjoy seeing their hands grow throughout the years and it’s so precious having their little handprints as part of their craft.
5. Leaf Graph
Little Bug find graphs fun so I think she will enjoy this. As an added bonus, this is an activity we can take outside! I am going to buy a piece of poster board for us to make our graph. We just need to wait for the leaves to change colors.
6. Apple Printable from This Reading Mama.
Little Bug has mastered the skills that are included in most of the “Preschool Packs” that can be found online so I was thrilled to come across This Reading Mama’s Printable packs because many are on the PreK/K level, which is right where Little Bug is. I am looking forward to doing these activities with Little Bug.
I’ve wanted to make this with Little Bug for a couple years now and I just haven’t! This is our year. My mom still has a Pinecone Turkey that I made when I was a little girl! I think this makes the perfect centerpiece for the table on Thanksgiving Day!
