Cooking is just not my thing
Oct 07, 2013
I said I wanted to be cooking by Fall. Well, it’s Fall and…my cooking goals have changed to something more realistic.
Because, let’s face it, people, we can’t excel in EVERYTHING and cooking is just not my thing.
I. LOATHE. COOKING.
There. I said it.
Crock pot meals? I don’t mind those in the least bit. But quite honestly, getting into the kitchen with multiple ingredients and multiple pots and pans and trying to organize it all to be ready at the same time all while my 2-year-old is racing through the kitchen on her toy car or hanging on my leg because she wants to cook too and – I CAN’T HANDLE IT.
It makes my head spin just thinking of it!
KUDOS to anyone who has slaved away on dinner and has it on the table when the hubby arrives home. That’s just not how our house rolls.
And, I’ve learned, it’s okay.
Things don’t always have to happen in the most conventional ways.
Dave and I sat down and, together, we devised a plan that would work for our family. And it’s working. We are meal planning which has cut our monthly grocery budget down. We have a system in place to know who is cooking what on what days. The stress that was once there when I even thought of having to feed my family has drastically decreased. And, we blessed that we get to enjoy meals with both sets of parents on a weekly basis!
Dave isn’t pressuring me to cook gourmet meals and I’ve taken the pressure off myself to be a rock star in this department, because…..it wasn’t going to happen!!!
I cook crockpot meals. Good crockpot meals! Maybe when I don’t have small children underfoot when I am attempting to cook I will try to for real cook a meal one day. But, this is working. We are all happy and fed.
