{Books We Read}

Our last Ready-Made Preschool book in January was Caps for Sale. This was a silly little book about a peddler who sold caps but one day all his caps were stolen right off his head while he slept by some monkeys! The peddler stomped his feet in anger asking the monkeys up in the tree to give him back his caps, but they responded by stomping their feet right back at him. Finally the peddler throws his hat down on the ground and the monkeys all do the same!

On the second day, we talked about the fact that the peddler was angry. We read Proverbs 29:11 about how a fool gives full vent to his anger but a wise man keeps himself under control. We talked about appropriate ways to deal with anger and that stomping our feet and throwing things is not the correct way to handle our anger!

Because of the monkey theme this week, we read a favorite book about Five Silly Monkeys!

{Letter of the Week}

Our letter of the week was Letter Mm because of the monkeys in the story! Little Bug had fun making the Letter Mm with the magnet letter builder and with Wikki sticks. She also did her Do-A-Dot Letter Mm (not pictured) and she and Sweet Pea worked on the Letter Mm page in her ABC Book. Little Bug found the pictures that start with Mm and Sweet Pea glued them on.

{Monkeys and Caps}

Little Bug got to make a monkey mask, sing a Five Little Monkeys Song and decorate her very own cap!

{Addition}

On the last day our main activity was M&M Math. We were suppose to use M&Ms but Little Bug’s allergies were very sensitive at this time and I did not want her eating chocolate at this time, so instead of using M&Ms we used our Bear Counters to play this game. She never knew the difference.

We did have a challenging homeschool day this day. She was just tired. I was trying to do the lessons with her and ended up deciding to just stop trying to do school with her that day and put her down for a nap early! So we ended up finishing up this week’s lessons the following week!

This was a wonderful game to practice addition skills! First she practiced her cutting skills by cutting out all the number cards. Then we got ready to play the game. She drew a number card and put Bear Counters on the monkey to represent the number on her number card. Then she drew another card and placed Bear Counters on the second monkey. Then she had to count up all the bears to figure out how many bears there were all together. She made that number using the numbers you see there on the table. Her numbers were 6 and 7, so she learned that 6+7=13. We played the game until all the number cards had been used!

{Mudpies to Magnets}

The girls got to make a Texture Collage! Grams had collected a variety of objects with different textures. The girls got to feel all the items and glue them on the paper to make a texture collage. We talked about how each item felt as we glued them on the collage. I was so happy when I saw my mom had picked this activity to do for Science this week because I’d really like to start giving them more texture activities to do.
