{Books We Read}

Our Ready-Made Preschool book this week was Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. This is an awesome book and one we already had! The town of Chew and Swallow doesn’t need grocery stores because food falls from the sky! This books provides a wonderful opportunity to talk about books and stories that could really happen and those that could not happen. This is also a great book to incorporate learning about weather. Weather Words by Gail Gibbons was a good book to read about real weather!

{Letter of the Week}

Our Letter of the Week was Letter Ww. I put whale stickers in her Mystery Box and Little Bug wanted to use those for her letter craft. So she painted her w blue and then put the whales in the “water” along with two dolphins that were also included in the sticker pack. Little Bug made W’s with her Wikki Stix, in salt (not pictured), with play doh and in shaving cream. She made her W page in her ABC Book.

{Weather & Temperature}

We made a Weather Wheel that Little Bug used to show the weather each day this week. She also recorded the daily weather on her Weather Graph. She laughed about the “snowy” weather and predicted we would not have a snowy day! Spring has certainly come as we had three beautiful sunny days, one rainy day and one cloudy day. I asked her the typical graphing questions (which had the most?, the least?. the same?).

We also learned about temperature. We talked about what a thermometer measures. We talked about the mercury rising as the temperature gets warmer. Then we placed the thermometer in different locations to see the mercury rise and fall! Little Bug first put the thermometer outside in the sun and then she put it in the freezer. The rubber band was to mark where the temp was when we pulled it out of her workbox.

{Tall Tales}

Little Bug got to make a Tall Tale picture using different shapes to make buildings. We learned how the square and rectangle are alike and how they are different. Then she used food from magazines to make her Tall Tale picture. She told me she only wanted to put four foods on her picture because she is four.

{Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Movie}

I had no idea there was a Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs movie! When Dave found out what our book was this week he ordered this for us to all watch! We enjoyed watching it on Saturday morning!

{Mudpies to Magnets}

We experimented with different mixtures to see which ones would shine pennies the best! Turns out the vinegar did the best job!
