Our letter this week was Letter Kk! Sweet Pea put kites on her Letter K and we read the book The Kissing Hand. We also read the Little Letter K book many times! Sweet Pea had so much fun with the K is for kite dot sticker page. She wanted to match the colors of the kite with her Do-A-Dot markers and then she decided to make an orange K. We played Roll a Kite. The girls took turns rolling a die and then seeing which piece of the kite they got to make the kite. This was a good counting activity for Sweet Pea as she counted the dots on her die.

Our craft was to make a Contact Paper Kite. This craft was so easy to prep and the girls spent a lot of time working on it! I just had to cut out the contact paper (two per kite) and then I already had squares of tissue paper cut from a previous craft we had made a long time ago. Then I just needed to cut out the black stripes for the kite. This kept the girls’ attention for longer than I had thought. They liked putting the tissue paper on the sticky side of the contact paper. Sweet Pea got the idea to crinkle the tissue paper and put them on her kite. After they were done putting on the tissue paper, I covered the kites with the second contact paper, trimmed them up and then I let the girls tape them to our sliding glass door (with painter’s tape)!

The activity I had planned to do on the fourth day (but just didn’t have the energy to pull together due to having a UTI and packing for our spur of the moment vacation) was an idea I found from The Measured Mom. It was an Outdoor Kitchen! Check it out. So fun and an activity I will be doing with my girls at some point this summer! I know they would both think this was the greatest! It’s a win-win for kids and Mama because the kids get to have fun “cooking” while Mama gets to clean out her pantry of old expiring items!

Next letter is Letter Mm & Nn! (I combined two letters into one week since we were on vacation during Mm week and I want to finish ABC School with Sweet Pea by mid-August.)
